Gloria Macapagal Arroyo attends one of the SMEs conference Text Box:   Text Box: ABOUT US Text Box: Since its founding in 1992, PHILSMED has helped SMEs by: (1) Implementing a Philippine Industry Development Program covering selected areas in the Philippines, where 12 priority products and services are assisted as they are marketed locally and internationally; (2) Expanding the use of PHILSMED's "Philippine SME Entrepreneurship Handbook" which was developed exclusively for SMEs; (3) Establishing of the Mindanao Product Showroom in Cagayan de Oro City, the first catalogue showroom in the Philippines, which is essentially a one-stop shop for both suppliers and buyers of products in Mindanao; (4) Conducting the yearly "Business Opportunities Forum" where world-class specialists and consultants from both overseas and the Philippines present new product and service trends; and (5) Conducting a regular workshop series of "How-To-Do-Business" in various countries.   Text Box: We do what we do because we believe in the entrepreneurial spirit of the Filipino people, that small businesses can do great things for the country specially in job generation. Most of all SMEs are vital to the growth of the Philippine economy and this is the reason why PHILSMED is here to help.   Text Box: As a foundation we seek to help SMEs through the following means: Tap institutions (local and foreign), government agencies and private companies to generate support & funds for the benefit of SMEs. Classify and identify SMEs based on their needs and problems and create solutions through partnerships and project collaborations among SMEs and other organizations. Serve as a channel/conduit of SMEs to meet and conduct business with large corporations and foreign governments through business forums, trade missions to foreign countries, trade fairs, e-commerce, seminars, training and workshops etc. Our three major assistance efforts for the SMEs are focused on marketing, advocacy and education.  
Text Box: The Philippine Small and Medium Business Development Foundation Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit organization established in 1992 to help in the growth and business development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Dr. Mina T. Gabor, then Secretary of Tourism, founded the organization during the time of President Ramos. The Philsmed Foundation is trusted by international grant giving entities and is accredited as a non-government organization (NGO). A member of the World Association for Small & Medium Enterprises (WASME). The foundation became an award winning organization when it received the seal of excellence from the Association of Small and Medium Enterprise in Beijing, China in 2001.     Text Box:
